These criteria recognize innovations that demonstrate exceptional creativity, impact, scalability, technological feasibility, economic viability, and potential for generating positive social and environmental outcomes in the fight against climate change.

CRITERIA

1. Novelty and Creativity: Assess the degree of innovation and originality demonstrated by the solution or technology in addressing climate change challenges. Consider whether the innovation introduces new concepts, methods, or approaches that have the potential to disrupt existing practices and contribute significantly to mitigating or adapting to climate change.

2. Impact and Scalability: Evaluate the potential impact and scalability of the innovation in addressing climate change at local, regional, national, or global scales. Consider factors such as the magnitude of greenhouse gas emissions reduction, the extent of climate resilience enhancement, and the feasibility of replicating and scaling the innovation across different contexts and geographic locations.

3. Technological Feasibility and Effectiveness: Assess the technological feasibility and effectiveness of the innovation in achieving its intended climate change-related objectives. This may include evaluating the reliability, performance, and compatibility of the technology with existing infrastructure, as well as its ability to deliver measurable outcomes and benefits in terms of emissions reductions, resource efficiency, and resilience building.

4. Economic Viability and Affordability: Consider the economic viability and affordability of implementing the innovation compared to traditional practices or technologies. Evaluate factors such as the cost-effectiveness of the innovation over its lifecycle, the potential for cost savings or revenue generation, and the availability of financing mechanisms or incentives to support its adoption and deployment.

5. Social and Environmental Co-benefits: Examine the broader social and environmental co-benefits associated with the innovation beyond its primary climate change objectives. This may include considerations such as job creation, poverty alleviation, public health improvements, biodiversity conservation, and ecosystem restoration, as well as its potential to promote social equity and justice in climate action.
